About the venue
About 10 kilometres from Marrakech's UNESCO-listed Medina, roughly a 20-minute drive southwest, Assoufid Golf Club sits on a 222-hectare estate at the foot of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. The 18-hole, par-72 course, designed by former European Tour player Niall Cameron, winds through naturally undulating terrain planted with palm trees, olive groves and native cacti.
The desert-style layout runs on a strict environmental approach: only around 45% of the land is irrigated, keeping water use low and preserving the native plant life. The clubhouse sits on one of the estate's higher points, with a reception, pro shop, locker rooms with showers, a private Members' Lounge and La Colline restaurant, terrace included, facing the mountain range.
Open since 2014 and named Best Golf Club in Morocco in 2019, Assoufid works both for golfers booked in for the full 18 and for anyone after a lunch or brunch with a view, with a driving range, putting green and chipping area on hand to warm up.
