The Port of Saint-Cyprien
Beating heart of the resort, the port of Saint-Cyprien is a place of life and promenade not to be missed. With its 2,200 berths, it is the 2nd largest marina in France and the 3rd in Europe. A stroll along the lively quays allows you to admire the countless sailboats and yachts moored, while enjoying the convivial atmosphere of restaurant and ice cream shop terraces. In summer, the port comes alive every evening with an artisanal market and funfairs, delighting families. Don't miss the spectacle of the swing bridge opening to let boats pass between the Capellans basin and the rest of the port – always an impressive moment. Whether it's to enjoy an ice cream, dine facing the boats, or simply stroll by the water, the port is a must-visit that embodies the maritime soul of Saint-Cyprien.
The Jardin des Plantes des Capellans
An oasis of freshness and greenery, the Jardin des Plantes des Capellans is also among the emblematic sites of Saint-Cyprien. Heir to a former aristocratic estate, this enchanting botanical park gathers an exceptional collection of plants from Asia, Africa, and Australia. Around its winding paths, discover giant eucalyptus, bald cypresses, rare orchids, and even an imposing ficus macrophylla with aerial roots. Contemporary sculptures also punctuate the walk, adding an artistic touch to the journey. A true haven of peace, the garden offers a dream setting for a reading break in the shade of a century-old cedar or a photo session among exotic flowers. Its botanical richness and tranquility make it a key place, highly appreciated by residents and visitors seeking nature.
The Village of Saint-Cyprien
While Saint-Cyprien-Plage is modern, its historic village, located a few kilometers inland, also deserves a visit. Get lost in the peaceful streets of the old village, founded well before the seaside resort's development. Discover the Saint-Cyprien church and its shady square, the colorful facades typical of Roussillon, and some local shops that give an authentic soul to the place. The village also houses the Collections de Saint-Cyprien, a singular art museum gathering over 800 works (paintings, sculptures...) bequeathed by artist François Desnoyer and enriched with works by masters such as Chagall or Maillol. This cultural space, set in a former village house, surprises with the quality and diversity of its collections. Visiting the historic heart of Saint-Cyprien, one can measure the harmonious contrast between the charm of a traditional Catalan village and the nearby lively waterfront.
The Best Municipal Beaches in Saint-Cyprien
Besides private beaches, Saint-Cyprien has magnificent public beaches accessible to all, each with its own character.
La plage de l’Art
Family-friendly and easily accessible, La plage de l’Art is a favorite among vacationers. Located in the center of the resort, it runs along a pleasant pedestrian promenade (nicknamed “Le Baladoir”) linking the port to Maillol square. This long stretch of golden sand benefits from sandbanks and shallow waters for the first few meters, ensuring safe swimming for children – a true paradise for families. Playgrounds and beach volleyball courts also animate the area in season. Bordered by shops, cafes, and ice cream parlors, La plage de l’Art offers the perfect balance between beach relaxation and summer activity.
La plage Maillol
Also known as "la Centrale", La plage Maillol stretches in the heart of Saint-Cyprien-Plage, a stone's throw from shops and the open-air market (every Sunday in summer). Its fine sand and azure blue waters make it a popular spot for alternating tanning sessions and a little shopping spree. In the morning, admire the sunrise setting the horizon ablaze, while in the evening the spectacle of twilight over the sea is just as enchanting. Very spacious, La plage Maillol allows everyone to find their space to lay down their towel or rent a sunbed. South of the resort, towards the Tech estuary nature reserve, stretches La plage de la Lagune. As its name suggests, it borders the Saint-Cyprien lagoon and offers a wilder, more preserved decor. Less urbanized, this beach will appeal to nature lovers seeking tranquility. Vegetated dunes, almost virgin stretch of sand, and an unobstructed view of the rocky coast further south (towards Argelès and Collioure) compose an idyllic picture. The flora and fauna are remarkable: it's not uncommon to spot migratory birds near the lagoon. Swimming is delightful in clear, turquoise waters. To top it off, a few huts and beach restaurants are nearby to enjoy a grill or fresh fish facing the sea. La plage de la Lagune is undoubtedly one of Saint-Cyprien's secret gems, perfect for a total change of scenery.

Whether to get to Saint-Cyprien or to move around once there, several transportation options are available to you.
By Car
The car is a preferred mode of access to reach Saint-Cyprien. From the A9 motorway (La Catalane), take the Perpignan Sud exit and then follow the D914 towards Argelès-sur-Mer until you see signs for Saint-Cyprien – it takes about 20 minutes from the exit. The resort has many free or paid parking lots near the beaches and the port, facilitating parking in high season. Driving in the city is easy, and you can also take the picturesque coastal road towards Canet-en-Roussillon to the north or Argelès to the south to explore the surroundings at your own pace.
By Train/Bus
Saint-Cyprien does not have its own SNCF train station, but it is easy to arrive by train to the Perpignan station, located about 18 km away. Perpignan is served by TGV (from Paris or Barcelona) and regional trains. From the station, bus connections are provided to Saint-Cyprien: the regular liO line n°542 (bus for 1€) links Perpignan to Saint-Cyprien-Plage in about forty minutes, all year round, for a modest fare. In summer, additional shuttles serve the Catalan coastal resorts. On-site, a small local bus service (Cypobus) allows you to travel between the village and the beach. However, the station being relatively flat and developed, many opt for biking or walking to pleasantly move along the promenades and cycle paths.

It offers regular flights to Paris, other French cities, and some seasonal European destinations. Upon landing, you can rent a car at the airport or take a shuttle to Perpignan and then the bus to Saint-Cyprien. Once in Saint-Cyprien, you just have to enjoy: everything can be done on foot or by bike in the resort, and many agencies offer bike rentals to move around gently along the coast under the Catalan sun.
